So long Thailand

Heading for the border this afternoon and will be entering Laos in the morning. Its been a hell of a good time here so far. More expensive than I thought it would be, but still very cheap. Actually everything is cheap except for the booze which happens to be where I spend the majority of my moolah - well booze and unexpected expenses like repairing a motorbike after running it into a ditch. The good news is Laos is apparently one of the poorest countries in the world, so my dwindling cash flow should make it through.
Went out into the jungle yesterday on a one day tour that included a waterfall hike(much better than originally expected), another elephant ride(once you've done one, you've done um all), and whitewater rafting - well it was more brown water, but the rapids were pretty fierce. My guide spoke F@*k all english and dumped out the majority of the boat on the biggest rapid. They were all Canadians and probably had it coming, but this was the first river experience I've had since becoming a guide where I wasn't in charge. That part I didn't like and instinctively took semi command once the carnage broke loose. But on the hole preparation H does feel good. Sorry for the lack of pics/posts - internet isn't the quickest over here.
Only 3 weeks left until my reentry into the 'real world'. I think it is time, but I gotta admit fantasy land has been sweet as for the past year.

brief update

Been hanging out at the beach playing with monkeys and elephants for the past week or so. I have to say its pretty cool. I almost don't feel worthy as I haven't worked in about 2+ months, but then again your only young once. I have to constantely remind myself of this lately. Any who I'll throw up some entertaining pics soon. Although we're about down to only one McCarthy, the group is still going strong.

Culture Shock

Ask and you shall receive. Its a different world over here in just about every respect. The group has multiplied to eight and is going strong. Just enjoying the sun warm upon my face and the booze warm in my belly at the Kata Beach Resort at the moment. I needed a good vacation from all this traveling!
